For the Keynote each year, we invite a celebrated image-maker to discuss their work in the context of the Summit theme. This year’s keynote speaker is Elinor Carucci.
Elinor Carucci Born in Jerusalem in 1971, Elinor has lived and worked in New York since 1995. Her critically-acclaimed photography is autobiographical and personal, exploring the complexities of being a woman, daughter, wife, and mother. Her recent monograph Mother (Prestel, 2013) is the culmination of a decade-long project that began when the artist was pregnant with twins. Like much of her earlier work, the series reveals family intimacy through images of both daily routines and moments of crisis, capturing the full range of emotional experience: joy, love, pain, anger, and exhaustion. One family’s intimate moments speak to a universal human experience of closeness in these unflinchingly honest photographs.
